Newport Animal Hospital - Rhode Island

Melissa – Senior Outpatient Technician Supervisor, CVT

Melissa began working as a technician at NAH in the summer of 2000. After receiving a B.S in Biology from Hood College, Melissa decided to further her career as a tech and chose to pursue an education in veterinary technology. She received her certification from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Colorado. Upon receiving her certification, she returned to RI. Her interests include emergency medicine and orthopedic surgery. Melissa has been dreaming of working in this field since she was 5yrs old. Her friendly home in Newport includes two Boston / French Bulldogs (Brunchies!) named Ramona and Lulu.

Lindsay – Outpatient Technician Supervisor

Lindsay grew up with 2 beagles, (Daisy & Lily) as family pets, which started her love of animals. As a girl, she was always pet sitting in town, so when she joined the NAH team in 2010 as a Boarding Assistant she was quick to excel! In 2013 Lindsay earned a position as a Veterinary Technician. Her dedication and skill earned her a promotion to Outpatient Technician Supervisor in 2016. Lindsay loves her job…almost as much as she loves her two kittens, Ghost & Daenerys.

Outi – Clinic Manager

Outi became a member of the Newport Animal Hospital team in 1999. She is originally from Finland and prior to moving to Newport she worked with top-level show jumpers in Southampton, NY and Wellington, FL. As the Clinic Manager she makes customer service her top priority in addition to helping our clients feel at home while receiving the best medical care for their pets. Outi also enjoys horseback riding and yoga.

Andrew – Clinic Manager

Andrew has been a member of the NAH team since April 2010. Originally leaning towards a position in the entomology field, Andrew decided to focus on the furry and fluffy instead of the creepy and crawly. As Assistant Clinic Manager, he enjoys the extra time he gets to educate clients especially when it comes to vector-borne diseases such as Lyme disease. Andrew currently lives in Middletown with his wife and dachshund, Yoshi.

Tony – Inpatient Supervisor

Tony has been a member of the NAH team since 2005. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. His interests in animal health led him to a position here at NAH. While he began his career as an outpatient technician, Tony’s skills and devotion to our clients and their pets ultimately earned him the position of Senior Inpatient Supervisor. Tony’s occupational interests include preventative medicine, client education and, (of course) inpatient care. Tony lives in Portsmouth wife his wife and two young children.

Michael – Inpatient Supervisor

Michael began his career with NAH in 2010. He previously attended The University of Rhode Island where he earned a B.A. in Animal Veterinary Science and Technology. Michael’s love for animals drew him to apply for a position at NAH. When he began his career at NAH, he was very interested in surgery and emergency animal medicine. His leadership skills and devotion to these areas ultimately earned him the position of inpatient supervisor in 2014. He currently lives in Tiverton, RI, with his wife, 2 children, and his shepherd/husky mix named Mickey.

Kelsey began working at Newport Animal Hospital in the Summer of 2014 as a Veterinary Technican. She loves working with and caring for animals, and constantly strives to learn new skills. Kelsey interests include inpatient care and emergency medicine. Born and raised in Newport, Kelsey currently lives at home with her gentle giant, Sophie the Saint Bernard. She is thrilled to be a part of the NAH team!

Originally from upstate New York, Morgan’s love of the beach led her to the University of Rhode Island. She graduated from URI in 2012 with a degree in Animal Science, and has a passion for animal health and nutrition. Morgan was excited to take a position at NAH, knowing she would learn much more from a veterinary setting than a laboratory one. Morgan is a Certified Companion Animal Laser Therapy Technician, and finds the therapy and its benefits very exciting!

Jessica has been an animal lover her whole her whole life, and joined the NAH staff as a Veterinary Technician in 2015. Previously, she worked and volunteered in the animal care field for many years, doing everything from fostering kittens to working as a certified dog trainer. She graduated from Providence College with a degree in English Lit, and is currently working to further her education with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from San Juan College. When Jessica isn’t working, she spends her time with her own pets: a dog named Stella, and kitties named Savannah, Loki, and Maddy.
