Mike
Originally from Warren RI, Mike started working for the Newport Animal Hospital in January of 2010. Mike attended classes at URI, where he earned a B.A. in Animal Veterinary Science and Technology. He applied for a position at NAH because of his love for working with animals. Mike is very interested in surgery and emergency animal medicine. He currently lives in Tiverton with his wife, new son Michael, a Shepherd/Husky mix named "Mickey" and some fish.
Andrew
Andrew began work as a technician at NAH in the spring of 2010. After receiving a degree in Biology from the University of Rhode Island in 2006, he accepted a position with the Department of Environmental Management collecting and monitoring mosquito populations for disease. However, Andrew could not resist working with the furrier side of the animal kingdom and pursued a career in the veterinary field. He brought his interest for vector borne diseases with him has enjoyed assisting our clients ever since. Andrew currently lives in Middletown with his wife and their Daschund, "Yoshi".

Lauren
Lauren started at NAH in the May of 2010. She is originally from California, where she grew up around a myriad of dogs, cats, and other small animals. She has experience in tons of dog-related fields, from agility to tracking to search and rescue. Her interests here include surgical procedures, emergency medicine, and radiography. She lives in Newport with her German shepherd, "Stella," and her cat "Kingsley".

Andy
Andy has been working for the Newport Animal Hospital since October of 2010. He is originally from San Diego, CA. Andy graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Communications and Broadcasting. He loves working with animals and appreciates all the assistance he's received transitioning into the field. Andy currently lives in Newport with his fiancee Mary, his son, Kyle, and their Pug/Basset Hound mix, "Kenny Powers".

Merritt
Merritt joined NAH in the summer of 2010. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Wildlife Management and Biology in 2003. Merritt also attended college in Kenya for Wildlife Management and Zoology. She recently came back from Hawaii where she worked for 5 years as an entomologist and tour guide. Merritt is a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator for the state of Rhode Island which keeps her very busy in the spring and summer months. At any given time, she might have several opossum, squirrels, rabbits, and birds in her apartment in Newport!! She recently adopted a lovable Wire-haired Pointing Griffon named "Scruffy", and also has a particular fondness for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers and rodents!
Katharine
Katharine joined the Newport Animal Hospital staff in the
winter of 2011. She has always had a passion for animals and is especially
interested in the care of small mammals including guinea pigs, ferrets, rats and
bunnies. Katharine currently resides in Middletown her dog Abel and her own
"herd" of guinea pigs She enjoys riding horses, spending time at the beach and
kayaking in her free time. Katharine intends to continue pursuing her Bachelor
of Science in Canine Behaviorism and is especially interested in the medical
aspect of canine mental health.

Kim
Originally from Northern Michigan, Kimberly joined the Newport Animal Hospital team in March 2011. She completed her Veterinary Assistant certification with Kaplan University after realizing her love for animals could be translated into a career. She hopes to continue her education with a focus in Animal Behavior. She is grateful for all the help she has received in transitioning from a long career in retail management. Kimberly currently lives in Bristol, RI with her fiancee Matt, their 4 year old rabbit "Chewy" and their 10 year old cat "Sherwin."

Amy
Amy joined the NAH staff in March of 2011. While
she has only been a technician at Newport Animal Hospital for a short while,
Amy has worked in the veterinary field for years, bringing a wealth of
knowledge and experience to our team! Her skills include outpatient and
inpatient care, making her an asset no matter what the situation! Amy currently
resides in Newport with her two cats, “Tom Tom” & “Owen” and her Blue
Heeler “Smokey”.
