Jack Civic, DVM
Owner & Head Veterinarian
Dr. Jack Civic has been working in the Veterinary field for 25 years. A native of Rhode Island, Dr. Civic earned a B.S. in Animal Science at the University of Rhode Island in 1977. He then attended Oklahoma State University where he studied Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation in 1983, Dr. Civic relocated to R.I. Dr. Civic served as the President of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association for 2 years and was also a member of the Rhode Island State Board of Licensing and Examiners. He currently resides in Jamestown, with his wife Sarah and their two dogs: Anguillan adoptee "Kay Lee" and Colorado adoptee "Rio"!

Randal Wirth, DVM
Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Randy Wirth attended the University of Michigan where he received his B.S. in Biology. Upon graduation, he began studying Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. He received his doctorate in 1989 and began to practice medicine in the state of Connecticut. He relocated to Rhode Island and became a member of the NAH team in 1991. His occupational interests include Canine Reproduction and Internal Medicine. Dr. Wirth currently resides on Aquidneck Island with his wife, two children, their cats, and their little dog "Dewey".

Lisa Walker, DVM
Originally from the Boston Area, Dr. Lisa Walker attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she received a bachelor's degree in Environmental Conservation. Following graduation, she began studying Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. She received her doctorate in 2000, and relocated to Rhode Island. Her occupational interests include Soft Tissue Surgery and Internal Medicine. She currently resides in Newport with her husband, two children, and their sweet 'mutt' "Daisy".

Joshua Hatch, DVM
A native of Northern MA, Dr. Joshua Hatch attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he received a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Following graduation, he began studying Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. In 2004, he moved to Aquidneck Island with his cat "Chuck". Dr. Hatch is interested in all aspects of small animal practice including small mammals like ferrets and rabbits as well as more exotic species. In his spare time he enjoys fishing off the coast and exploring the many fine restaurants in the area.

Eric Wood, DVM
Dr.
Wood attended The University of Rhode Island's Wildlife Biology and Management
program. He then moved to Montana and
attended Montana State University, where he completed the Pre-Veterinary
curriculum. He then attended Colorado State University, where he received his Doctorate of
Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He
spent the next year practicing general veterinary medicine in Connecticut, and then
relocated to Montana, where he spent 5 years working, not only as a general practitioner, but as an emergency veterinarian as well. In 2010, Dr. Wood decided it was time to return to his native state, Rhode Island! He joined the Newport Animal Hospital Team in January of 2011, and is excited to be here! Dr. Wood's special interests include oncology and chemotherapy, general
and soft tissue surgery, and pain management.

Katherine Kaczmarek, DVM
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Kaczmarek
graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Animal Science in 2001.
She continued on to graduate from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine
in 2005. In 2006 she moved with her husband, Steve, to Houston, Texas and
practiced there for almost 6 years. Exhausted by the heat, they chose to move
back north and she started working at Newport Animal Hospital in September
2011. Dr. Kaczmarek’s interests in veterinary medicine are varied, but she
especially enjoys internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. In her free time
Dr. Kaczmarek enjoys running, painting, quilting, yoga and horseback riding.
Her husband and two dogs, a Vizsla named Booker and a Chocolate Lab named
Guinness, are excited to enjoy all the outdoor activities New England has to
offer!
